Important Tips for Third-party Originators Using the FHA TOTAL Mortgage Scorecard

When you contact your sponsoring lender to discuss how they want to work with you on FHA loans submitted to the FHA TOTAL Mortgage Scorecard through Loan Prospector:

  • Ask your sponsoring lender which credit reporting companies (CRC) or affiliates they use to ensure you have agreements established with those CRCs – If you select a CRC that your sponsoring lender doesn't have a relationship with, and your lender has to resubmit the loan, they will have to order and pay for a new merged credit report.

  • Select only CRCs with whom you have a service agreement – All CRCs will be listed on the drop down list. If you select one that you don't have a service agreement with, you'll receive an error message.

  • Remember to change your FHA Sponsor ID in Loan Prospector if you reassign a loan to a different wholesale lender – The loan assignment feature in Loan Prospector is not related to the FHA TOTAL Mortgage Scorecard. If you change the loan assignment in Loan Prospector, you also need to change the FHA Sponsor ID.

  • Enter your lender's FHA lender ID in the FHA Sponsor ID field – When you originate a loan, you must enter the sponsoring lender's FHA Lender ID in the FHA Sponsor ID field. HUD uses the Sponsor ID to identify whom to contact if there are issues with the loan.

  • Talk to your sponsoring lender to discuss how they want to work with you on FHA loans submitted to the FHA TOTAL Mortgage Scorecard through Loan Prospector.
